We were born to live life to achieve the most out of life. We chase dreams to fulfill our human desires. The journey of life has been long and hard, but worth it. However, in our pursuit of happiness in achieving things, we have lost our way in knowing the true meaning of life. We are bombarded daily by the media and opinions of others to chase after things that are temporal. In this world, money and the love of money drive our pursuits. Follow the money is a popular saying. When we approach the end of life, we begin to wonder if all this chasing after things is but an illusion. Nothing seems to satisfy our desires, and the pursuit of happiness never seems to end. Everything appears like Solomon says, chasing after the wind.
An illusion is an image of something real. It is an image, and therefore, like seeing your face in the mirror is just an image. Once you look away, the image disappears from your visual field. So also what we sense is very much like an image. It appears real but is transitory. Life, when faced with death, is temporary. This makes life seem meaningless. We try to create meaning through our pursuits, but it seems to be vanity. All the glamour in this world is superficial and can never satisfy the longing of our hearts.
There is another reality that most of us shy away from because it is not tangible. The spirit world is real. Jesus came in the form of man to reveal His spiritual Kingdom to us. He spoke spiritual truths to guide us into His Kingdom. Many heard His message, but it did not make sense because of spiritual blindness. Jesus came to open our blind eyes to see the reality of His spiritual Kingdom and promised us eternal life. Here, there is no death. This is reality, and once our eyes are opened to see the real, everything else is but an illusion.
